Needlefelting as art. Toys and pictures * Иглонабиването като изкуство. Играчки и картини.

Забележка: Българският текст е по-надолу.

I am happy when people to whom I give my knowledge and skills in art called wool felting, found that they carry a talent to express themselves through the color as painters, and through the shape and volume as true sculptors!

Because to create a small toy, and with specific character traits, stand and texture, volumes and elements, to master and make the best of the material wool, which believe me, it is not easy to work with, it is a real gift, lined with skills!

Like Diana and her small sculptural felted creations and needlefelt paintings!

And like Desi with her amazing fruits and hedgehog named Iglika!

Or Dilly with her needlefelt picture!

The beauty is in the skills, inspiration and good craftsmanship!

Dry and wet felting.

REMEMBERING MY SOLO FELT ART EXHIBITION "LAND OF DREAMS''

Now I'm preparing for an exhibition in November 2013 in city Varna, Bulgaria. There, along with three other artists in the field of ceramics and small sculptures I'll show my textile art. Some of the works have already participated in group exhibitions and my solo exhibitions, but there will be new ones. So I decided to publish in my blogs series of articles dedicated to my work, which will participate in this exhibition. Some of my works you've seen on the internet or in person. My felt art carpets and wall hangings created in the 2009-2013 year reflect my creative pursuits and experiences that prompted me to do exactly that, to express myself in exactly that way.

They are the fruit of a great love and the state to be who I am :)

So, remembering my third solo exhibition of art textiles held in 2012 in the Historical Museum Botevgrad, Bulgaria I'd like to tell you, what I felt and wanted to show to the visitors.
Let's make this walk together again! Let's remember what is to have a dreams!

Do you like dreaming?

No time for dreams?

Or maybe you've forgotten how to dream?

Do you want to get back the feeling of bliss and serenity inherent to this process?

Then, let us take a trip back through time when we were kids!

Do you remember that sweet sleep state when lying in bed you awaken?

The dream has not left you completely, the body is blissfully relaxed ...

There, in your room, there's a window.

There is a piece of heaven, because such are the windows - they should always have a piece of heaven

So, the window watches the sky with your eyes.

You are squinting, because the light, such bright and beautiful, rushes through them.

And then miracles happen.

Small color circles dance on your lashes, merge and divide, grow or shrink ...

Pageant of color and light!

Enjoying this ...

... the time stops...

Only the play of light exists...

Then you open your eyes wider and notice the small clouds that are floating in the azure of the sky.

You can recognize in them someone's face or see cute animals.

Forms change so quickly, and you feel a sweet bliss.

The world is so wonderful!

You see the tree near the window and smile.
You hear the birds that chirping merrily ...

Do you remember!?

Yes! That is, do you see!

And here are my memories, my dreams!

Did you know that dreams come true - those real, clean, out of the bliss of the heart, didn't you?!
Every kid knows that!

Staying more in this state and then your life will really become a beautiful dream come true!

With love to you all!

Felt art carpet tapestry STREETS and CROSSROADS

http://www.etsy.com/listing/82931255/felt-art-carpet-tapestry-streets-and?
Felt art rug STREETS and CROSSROADS is a multicolor geometric expresion.
It is my feeling about the country with its roads and ways. This is my vision of city in colors.
This fiber art is inspired by urban architecture and planning, by the city maps and charts.

http://www.etsy.com/listing/82931255/felt-art-carpet-tapestry-streets-and

There somewhere is pulsating the heart, from which springs all threads, crossroads of roads, energy and people.

This may be my heart, my birthplace, my home!

Because we are multidimentional and all connected to everything!

On the wall or on the floor this unique bright felted wool carpet named 'Streets and Crossroads' will warm and light up the home athmosphere with its fresh multicolor expresion.

This carpet took a part in many exhibitions of textile art in Bulgaria, especially in the anual exhibition of the Textile Department of UBA (Union of Bulgarian Artists) in 2010 year, dedicated to the themes Mobility and Variants.

This artwork was shown at the end of 2011 in felt art exhibition called "Old crafts, modern hobby" in gallery "Bogoridi", Bourgas, Bulgaria.

In February 2012 it takes a part in my solo exhibition of art textiles called "Land of Dreams" and exposed in the Historical Museum - Botevgrad, Bulgaria.

In November-December 2013 it's shown on the exhibition BEFORE CHRISTMAS at Art Hall of Radio Varna, Bulgaria.

This felt rug is designed and created by Svetlana Kostova.

One of kind.
Size: 1,60 x 1,10 m / 5,19 x 3,57 feets approximately.
Thickness: at about 1 cm / 0,39 inch.

The carpet is created of different types wool, most of them I cleaned and dyed by hand.
Making the carpet took me several weeks for creating the designer project, dyeing the wool and a few alternations of needle and wet felting. There is no stitching or sewing!

To facilitate hanging on the wall I put in on the back side of the carpet 9 hangins of wool threads, where you can put hooks or cords, or could pass a thin wooden or bamboo stick, or metal bar. These 9 wool threads on the reverse don't cumber of using this art piece as floor carpet.

CLEANING METHODS:
There is no need of frequent cleening and washing.
Just clean the dust with vacuum cleaner when needed.

ATTENTION: This felt carpet could be washed in washing machine only with cold water, using mild detergent suitable for wool, without centrifuge cycle!
Please, do not dry in the dryer!

Washing by hand:
Please, have in mind that the wet wool increased its weight so much, which complicated the process of hand washing.

Use gentle washing agents suitable for wool.
Rinse well to completely rinse the soap foam. In the the final rinse add in water a little vinegar to neutralize the remnants of soap.
Please, press out the water carefully by hand. Let it to drain well.
You can absorb excess water with a cotton towel.
Dry only on the horizontal surface and do not hang up, when it is wet!

Detailed information on cleaning and washing the wool clothes and accessories you can find in my article: http://svetlanaarts.blogspot.com/2013/02/how-to-wash-our-clothes-and-accessories.html

I hope you like and enjoy this my work I put a piece of my heart!

Sincerely yours,

Svetlana Kostova
